Volunteer Opportunities
Pastfinders of South Lake County Genealogical Society is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to preserving and sharing genealogical knowledge. Volunteers play a vital role in helping us operate the genealogy library, host educational programs, offer Special Interest Groups, and assist individuals in building their family trees.
Pastfinders is currently seeking volunteers to support a variety of roles. If you’re interested in contributing your time and skills, please fill out this form.

Available Positions
- Once a month, library tier checkers inspect a section of the library’s shelves.
- Publicity Help: send emails about our forthcoming programs to newspapers and other organizations.
- Social Media administrator: share our upcoming events on Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms.
- Publicity art: make posters for society events for the library, Facebook, and website.
- Participate in the book committee’s decision-making process to determine what books our library needs.
- Volunteers are needed to assist in the preservation of our local history and collections, including transcriptionists, preservationists, digitizers, and organization projects.
- Volunteers are needed to index particular collections. Helpful if you are familiar with Excel or similar programs.
