Veterans History Project of South Lake County FL

The Veterans History Project at Cooper Memorial Library began in 1991 as a local effort to collect and preserve stories from U.S. Armed Forces veterans in south Lake County. Initially focused on World War II and Korean War veterans, the project gained renewed momentum in 2001 following national recognition through Congressional legislation. In 2007, a dedicated committee was formed to expand and formalize the project, ensuring these personal histories became part of the library’s permanent collection. The project includes stories, photos, and memorabilia contributed by veterans and their families.

These books are available in the Pastfinders Genealogical Library for viewing. For more information on the project, visit their website.
